Homecoming
Jake went to his first homecoming dance last night. It was his dad's weekend so I didn't get to take him or see him all dressed up like a human. I did get to buy the flowers and pay for the tickets and get him a haircut...I know it's not about me but I do feel jipped. Is that wrong?
The benefit of the "dad's weekend" thing is that Dan and I got to have the whole day together with Tess. We slept til noon, ate lunch at Applebees and then did chores around here. I should wake the baby soon or she'll be up all night.
This past week we had Dan's mom in town for a visit and it was super cool. Tess is so lucky to have 2 great sets of grandparents. Dan and I are each lucky that we have good in-laws. That doesn't always happen.

what a difference a decade makes
Yesterday Kendallpops turned 10 years old. She had her birthday party Saturday at Funland so yesterday we just got pizza in her honor and we sang to her so she could blow out the candle in the pizza. She seemed pleased.
Kendall isn't especially thrilled about turning 10. She feels like she's being pushed to grow up because she's hit double digits. This isn't true, nobody has asked her to do anything past cleaning her room. If she's still having these concerns at 21, we might have issues to deal with.
I started wanting to halt Kendall's aging process years ago. She's always been the ideal daughter and in the past I worried that I might wake up one day to find that she's no longer the Kendall who still brings tears to my eyes when I look at her. It hasn't happened though. Everyday she wakes up and is the same precious girl. I still wish I could freeze her at this age but I'm not so worried that she'll wake up different one day. I'm mostly just selfish enough to want to enjoy this age for a bit longer.
It's been a realy taxing week for the baby of the family. She's had to step over and allow another little girl to invade her title of youngest, but she will always be our princess.
