save me from myself
Save my family too. My mood the past few days has been horrid. I bitch that Dan's not helping and then when he does, I bitch about how slowly he helps me...then I get called a lunatic. I guess I am one. I think I need a vacation.
I need a goddamn beer.
I need 10 beers...and a visit from the extreme house makeover people.
So this morning I checked my account and saw that aside from the budget payment electric bill which they took 2 weeks ago, today they took $105 from my account. This brought me down to BIGFATZERO after money was moved from savings to cover it. Last month they took the budget amount twice and I overlooked it hoping they'd see their error and knock it the fuck off. WRONG. So I called Dominion power this morning and put on my nicest voice (as nice as I could be anyway)and the lady said she'd turn off the automatic billing. I said "thanks!" She said "now you have to go online and pay your budget amount". I said "no, I want that to still come out, I just want you guys to stop taking EXTRA".
She said "oh, well that can't be done". I said "yes it can" She said "no.it.cant" I said "I bet someone there can do it, even if you can't" She said "you're wrong". I said "ok, let's give it a try then, you put me through to your supervisor and I'll discuss it with them". So she said "ok, thank you, can I do anything else for you today?" I said "you can type in my ticket that I have just received the worst possible customer service from you". She said "thanks, you have a great day" and transferred me to the person who got the problem resolved. I DON'T FEEL SATISFIED. AUGH!!
I wonder if there's pregnant kick boxing or something. I need to maim someone.

Split tail
We had the amnio yesterday. Everything went fine...as fine as a needle in your gut can go. We'll find out for sure on Friday but for now the word is that we're having a girl. Kendall's very happy about evening the numbers in our house. I'm just glad the baby has 2 arms, 2 legs and 1 head. Now we just have to make sure it's healthy and I can start shopping.
Yesterday Jake had the nurse call me to pick him up because he had hives. She was very pushy about it and I told her I'd be there as soon as the amnio was over but she'd just have to hold her horses for an hour til I got there from Richmond. So we drove over to pick up the rashy kid and YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE IT...
That rash miraculously disappeared!!!! Jake was HEALED in the time it took for us to drive there and take him home. Not an itch or anything. I praise God that he healed my son just in time that I never got to see the dreadful disease. Jake's a fortunate kid indeed. Now I just have to make sure and not fall for that line of BULL ever again. *sigh*
In the good news category, Trevor got his orange belt yesterday. He's a true Beverly Hills Ninja.

juan more time...
Last Thursday we went for our amnio. As most everyone knows, I got upset and left without having the test. The Dr. and I did not jive at all and I spent last Thursday crying. Wah. I'm over it now though so tomorrow we're going to try again. Different Dr, different hospital, different city. I really want to have the amnio, just not with that dicknose who upset me. I'm over it though, really. Anyway, around 9am tomorrow please think good thoughts, I promise to not ask again for a while.
We went last Friday to see Vagina Monologues at the Colonial Tavern. It was like watching a show in a bar...loud, drunk, cell phone-using people sat behind the place where people had paid $35 to see a serious show to benefit victims of sexual assault. The venue didn't match the subject matter. It was still nice of Dan to take me. Not many men would sit through it.
Saturday was a busy day. We met lots of the Fredtalk people for lunch at Virginia BBQ and then at 4 we had the book club meeting. I love the book club. It's a fun way to catch up with people we rarely see and I love the book discussions. June's book is AWESOME and I can't wait to discuss it.
Sunday, was spent in bed or on the couch all day. Dan has ruined my productive nature. I struggled to do 2 loads of laundry and buy a few groceries. I've turned into a couch potato. In fact, I sat so much that my body ached from my sedentary lifestyle. We watched 8 episodes of the first season of 24, we have 4 left to watch. We also watched Spanglish. I sorta liked it, sorta didn't. I can't say for sure still. 24 is awesome though, I can't believe it's taken me this long to see that. (SEE? I watch tv now! I am a worthless sack).

Flighty
I can't seem to concentrate on anything these days. The weather and my body are changing and it's really all I can do to keep up with the books I want to read. I can't be expected to keep my ducks in a row while I have John Grisham's "The Last Juror" to complete.
Last weekend along with returning from my trip to Austin and babysitting Jason, we also moved Dan's things from his house into the basement. For a few days we had the hippy couch in the front yard. It was glorious. Not only did Becky and I get to sit out there with the kids in the sunshine, but on Monday I spent a good 2 hours out there reading. The neighbor was upset to learn from my dad that no, we were not moving out, and yes, we were moving yet another person in. HA. I hope she chokes on her bile. She's such a nasty old woman and nothing good will come her way as long as her attitude sucks like that. Peggy and Alex came by on Monday night to get the couch and we were all a bit sad to see it go. Well, all except the neighbors I'm sure.
Tomorrow I have amnio. I'm sure everything will go fine, it's just a little unnerving knowing that a 3 inch needle will be so close to the new kid. It'll be nice to know that it's healthy though and I'm really stoked about finding out the gender. So, if you read this, please keep your fingers and toes crossed for us. By the way, Dan is taking his video camera. He says it's to capture the ultrasound but I'm sure he mostly wants to make sure the needle people do their job right.

Feelin' groovy
I swear, the last time I wrote here I still had some yellow (banana) lifesavers left on my desk. Now I'm down to lavender ones (berry something) and green ones (watermelon). I hate those two flavors. Gone are the cotton candy pink ones. Life is unfair sometimes.
Right now I'm listening to Peggy's cd from the cd exchange. As usual, it's full of songs I love to hear and sing and I'll most likely listen to it a hundred times before it goes back into a rotation. I'm freeeeeee todowhatiwant anyol'time.
Last Saturday Dan and I went to my brother's house in Richmond for dinner. We sat out at the table in his back yard while his kids played with Rufus, the guinea pig. Ellis had protested the girls bringing him outside but Megan overrode his decision. Sure enough my brother heard himself saying "ANNA. DO NOT FEED STICKS TO THE GUINEA PIG!" something he'd never imagined he'd ever say. It wasn't long afterwards that Rufus retreated under the playhouse and all adults were called in to fish him out. Dinner and the company were great and as always, ended with "we really should do this more often!". We won't though.
Dan's house is under contract and soon, if all goes well, we'll be rid of that albatross and we can start fixing up our house to fit our new person. Speaking of the new person, we have amnio next Thursday. Hopefully they'll be able to tell us right away that our baby is healthy and that the test is just a formality. I do hate waiting. I also can't wait to find out what we're having. I was never good at guessing.
Tomorrow I'm leavin' on a jet plane for Austin Tx. It's the last of my work trips. I enjoyed last week's trip to Asheville but it was only 1 day. 2 days away will feel like forever I'm sure. Once I get off of the plane I'm picking up Jason for the weekend. We'll get to practice having a baby for 3 days. He's such a good little science experiment.

SHOES!
The boys are out of town with their dad camping (yea, in the flooding rain). Because of this, I've had "girl day" with Kendall for the past few days. Today we did her favorite and my least favorite thing. We went shopping.
Well, I got 2 pairs of flip flops and a pair of funky tennyshoes from old navy and THEN at tarzhaaay I got a nice pair of black slides that will go nicely with the new black pants I bought. THEN when we got home I had a package. It was my NEW sandals from simpleshoes.com and they fit like a glove. That means I got 4 (FOUR!!!!!) pairs of shoes in one day. I do hate shopping but maaaan I love shoes.
Don't think I skimped on my family either, I bought them all some new clothes too. Kendall spent her money on my 2 favorite things...new pj's and SHOES. I guess that apples and trees thing might be true.
